Nettlebrand Chomps A Cactus

I appear to be into random cartoons as of late.

This is a scene from Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke. Twigleg sent Nettlebrand to the desert, and he is very, very angry. He decides that he has to take his wrath out on something (Nettlebrand has anger management issues, can you tell?), and the first thing he sees is a cactus. Ignoring the advice of Gravelbeard (his "armor-cleaner"), he bites down on the cactus, and the cactus - in self-defense - impales Nettlebrand's gums.

Sorry the colors turned out yucky on this one (stupid scanner, blech...). Also, what do you think of Nettlebrand's scales? I don't normally draw scales like this, so I was wondering what everyone thought. And I know that I absolutely FAIL at drawing Gravelbeard...and cacti.
